Preventive and Promotive Physiology

(Physiology for prevention of diseases and promotion of health)

Presently, lifestyle disorders such as obesity, hypertension, diabetes, dyslipidemia, heart diseases etc. have become more prevalent globally, especially in Indian subcontinent primarily due abrupt to change in style of living and food habits, and increased stress in social life. These diseases are the major cause of morbidity and mortality throughout the world. Physiology will play a major role in the treatment of these diseases, in alleviation of these problems and in prevention of these diseases through promotion of public health in general. Therefore, transforming physiology into more preventive and promotive (Preventive and Promotive Physiology) subject is primary goal of Association of Physiologists of India (ASSOPI).
